Is it real or all in our imagination?
I think it is fair to say that for most survivors of abuse, it feels good to have our feelings validated. If we choose to tell our stories, lots of people, if not most would acknowledge that our experience has been terrible. But imagine, you have a kind of story to tell that will often be met with doubt, rather than sympathy.

Memories of Satanic Ritual Abuse are more often than not thought to be the product of a wild phantasy or a new fad called False Memory Syndrome. I guess, the thought of grown people in a modern and scientifically enlightened society, forming some kind of a coven and worshipping an evil entity, seems pretty out there. Even more outlandish to think that their practices could include human sacrifice and torture.
Satanic Ritual Abuse or SRA in short, is not widely being acknowledged, even though more and more people are sharing their stories on platforms like YouTube. But the people listening might already be influenced in their opinion, since in the 80s there was a thing roaming the press, called the Satanic Panic.
As I understand it, an increased interest in the occult, especially amongst teenagers seems to have led up to this. People seemingly dabbled in ouija board seances, black masses, divination or just loving themselves some death metal, black clothes and scary looking tattoos or outright stated that they were now Satanists. In addition, there had been some incidents – particularly one big case in Canada- where individuals had been accused of molesting children in the context of a satanic ritual. With the case in Canada, these accusations were eventually squashed, granted not without some damage to the reputation of the accused individuals. After all the children had given graphic descriptions of what had happened to them. Still, an explanation seemed to be largely accepted, that the kids either made this up and made each other tell a false story or that an adult had coerced them into damaging the reputation of the accused.
However, while a lot of these incidents got an explanation, that was enough to cast doubt that these outrageous accusations, many remained concerned that their children would dabble in Satanism or maybe an equally disturbing cult-like fad. Critics who doubted the existence of these threatening Satanic organisations were quick to debunk these concerns as mere hysteria.
A book by Michelle Smith titled Michelle Remembers, in which she detailed her resurfacing memories of occult sexual abuse during her childhood, brought up through hypnosis, didn’t give the problem more credibility. It might have made things worse. The book has been wildly criticised until this day. People have deemed the events detailed in the book as implausible, unlikely and ridiculous. So, a new term –false memory syndrome – started to make the rounds in the field of psychology and professionals seemed to find some merit in it. What this essentially means is that your memories might be factually incorrect while you strongly believe them to be true. This pertains particularly to resurfacing memories from long ago, like your childhood.
This theory, of course, makes claims about SRA look ridiculous, but it also aids the people involved in these groups. Thus, they continue to do their best to nourish the narrative.
Personally, I do believe that while some of these victim and witness statements might be fiction to get attention, I am convinced that we cannot possibly all be afflicted by false memory syndrome and the pain of remembering these events has, in many cases, not only put a divide between us and our families, but keeps us from enjoying life to the fullest.
Could it be real?
So what is the truth? What is SRA exactly? Should you believe people like us, when we claim to have experienced these outrageous things?
Who & What?
As abuse survivors, the atrocities we face may differ greatly and impact us on many different levels, mentally and physically. And just like the other side, the abusers, differ greatly, so do Satanic cults.
These groups exist within all kinds of social systems, like the political arena, within certain professions, within town communities and families, and the list goes on and on and deeper into all layers of society. I think part of our credibility problem is that most people picture ritual abuse happening in weird covens that meet out in the woods at the witches’ hour, and they find it very hard to believe that reputable members of their community would engage in such behaviours.
And while I fully realise that the Eyes Wide Shut secret society scenario can seem too outlandish to be true, these dynamics are in fact out there and can poison all kinds of social groups, such as families. They happen on the scale of the macro, as well as the micro cosmos, if you will. Taking the example of the family system, some of them nurse a cultish structure for generations and like all other toxic family systems, it is mostly invisible to the outer world.
Abuse in the realm of SRA can include rape, physical and emotional torture and murder, often intentionally as a human sacrifice. Sometimes these atrocities are executed by an individual, but more often a group. There is, however, a distinction when it comes to the victims, because there are essentially two kinds. There are those, sadly enough mostly children or vulnerable adults, who are solely being victimised for ritualistic purposes and they will usually not survive their ordeal.
The second kind of victim, unless they catch on and escape, can be in for the long run – children, who were born into the cult or an adult, who is to be initiated. Some may survive and those are the ones to tell their stories later. If you are born to someone close to the cult or a practicing family, you might be horribly abused but yet kept alive to be groomed to become a fully grown member later and through suffering your own terrors you’re being trained to become a depraved, emotionally detached abuser yourself.
And there are no limits to the perversion and horror. Girls are often impregnated over and over again, just to have their children sacrificed after birth or aborted in different stages of the pregnancy for the purpose of human sacrifice. They are called breeders. Children are buried in boxes without food and water and only released hours later…these examples are really only the tip of the iceberg.
But whether you are disposable in their eyes or to be groomed into membership, your soul will be violated in the most brutal way. You will be stripped naked in a literal and metaphorical way. You will go through the most soul-crushing and humiliating experience you could possibly imagine. By the way, women are just as much members as men.
As a victim, you might be kidnapped or taken to a remote location, far out in the country side or to a simple basement. You might be held captive for days or even months. For the actual ritual, you would be either fully drugged or you might be fully aware of what is happening. You’ll be dragged into a room, stripped naked and extremely violated in all possible ways-you will be verbally humiliated, physically tortured, raped/gang raped (sometimes involving incest) or made a human sacrifice. Different Satanic holidays require different rituals and sacrifices, but they usually involve the violation of humans or animals.
It is also not uncommon that survivors have been programmed without their awareness. This is necessary to make sure that they can be triggered into committing suicide, in case they’ll remember. And to be honest I was debating myself whether to publish this or not. But I strongly believe that once the veil has been lifted and you understand what they are doing and what has been done to you, you will be able to fight them successfully.
Why?
You might want to tell yourself, it just can’t be real- and that’s fair enough, because acknowledging that these things happen in our world truly is a hard pill to swallow. Also it seems to make no sense. You might wanna think that perpetrators do not need that kind of setting. Pedophiles, serial killer, rapists or animal abusers have always been capable of doing those things on their own and even if they’d get a kick out of joined forces, they do not need Satan to follow through. And surely it cannot be that wildly spread that it could have infiltrated all parts of society.
If you look at it like this: rather than believing in an all loving God or being an atheist, it might be attractive to abusive manipulators to side with an entity, that is known to not only endorse those behaviours but also reward them. And if history teaches us anything, people got motivated by the craziest incentives to do the most horrible things. And just think about, how many people vanish each year all around the world.
It is important to state that not all Satanists partake in these atrocities and simply because someone claims it as their religion, doesn’t mean they torture and kill. We are talking about certain groups. But this particular kind of Satanism, requires a group or coven just like other faiths do and within a certain setting, like let’s say a small town, you can have members of different walks of life. A lawyer can defend other members in court, in case anything ever slips through. A doctor may have access to substances like date rape drugs or can provide first aid, if a victim has been pushed too far but was not intended to die. A real estate agent can find secluded empty locations, where rituals can take place. No one can snitch, as they are just as deeply involved as the rest and one hand washes the other.
We all know that there are people on this planet who find a perverted joy in hurting others and only strive for their own advantage and gain. If people without any moral compass have been emerged in a system that encourages you to exactly do that and more over, may help you get anything you want – they’re in and will keep the system running.
Believe me, I am aware that my claims may sound preposterous and that I may seem crazy writing this, but if I have learned anything in this lifetime, it’s that there is hardly anything that doesn’t exist in this universe – Good or bad. I thought about this long and hard – why would these Satanic group take such risks and go through so much trouble really to do those horrible things? And think I got it- Power!
Power might just be the most addictive of all drugs. Whether it is factual or not, once you believe you have it- especially over others – it will be very hard to let go. And just imagine, in addition to that, you really believe that there is a Devil who will make all your wishes come true, as long as you and your fellow satanists stick to the schedule and demanded procedures. And the more you loose your soul in the process, the more you will enjoy the latter.
Whether you believe in Satan or not, these people clearly do and whether the Devil is really assisting them or this is all just a self-fulfilling prophecy, as you have a group of people helping each other to gain power – it doesn’t really matter in the end and the Devil may indeed not care. All that matters is to be aware and not close our eyes, even if some truths are hard to bear. So that there can be hope, that the human race will be able to put and end to this someday.
